Washington - The Iron Workers are pleased to announce that Kendall Martin, Business Manager of Local 5, covering Washington, D.C., and portions of Maryland and Virginia, has been selected as a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A10 Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) for Construction and Demolition Operations.

Mr. Martin was appointed by Iron Workers International General President Walter Wise in advance of the ASC’s July 15th meeting and will serve as an alternate for Steve Rank, Executive Director of Safety & Health for the Iron Workers. Mr. Rank serves as Subgroup Chairman of the A10.9 Concrete and Masonry Standard and A10.13 Steel Erection Standard.

Said Wise, “Steve Rank will work closely with ANSI and Kendall Martin to ensure that the Iron Workers continues to be an active participant of the ANSI A10 ASC.”

ANSI was created in 1918 with the intent to oversee and administer the ongoing development of safety standards in American production. The A10 ASC, founded in 1944, is a voluntary standards group comprised of sixty-seven national organizations that create and interpret standards protecting the safety of workers and the public from construction- and demolition-related hazards.
