In an effort to provide just-in-time training to members that meets the demands of a growing wind turbine marketplace, IMPACT established a partnership with the Francis Tuttle Technology Center (FTTC) in Oklahoma City. FTTC is a member of the Wind Energy Training Consortium (WETC). The WETC is a group of training institutions recognized by the American Wind Energy Association as promoting essential skill training for wind turbine technicians.
The training focuses on two major areas, tower rescue and torque and tension training. The tower rescue course concentrates on the different forms of fall protection, rescue and evacuation techniques and types of equipment. Participants also learn the proper use, care, and maintenance of height safety equipment used in the wind energy workplace. The Torque and Tension course highlights basic fasteners and safety, mechanical torque, electronic torque and hydraulic torque. This part of the training allows the participant a tremendous amount of hands-on learning and application.
Participants receive nationally recognized certifications from three wind turbine industry leaders - Capitol Safety, Snap-On, and HYTORC upon completion.
