“I am pleased to announce that Schuff Steel has 100% ironworker participation in all of Region IX. [The substance abuse] program serves as a selling point for us when discussing a ‘Drug Free Workforce’ with general contractors. We hope our fellow ironworkers realize how crucial this program is in helping to provide a safe place to work.”
Paul Benson Regional Field Safety Manager Schuff Steel Company Phoenix, AZ
The Ironworker-Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust Substance Abuse Revised Program was developed in June 2011 by labor and management for areas of the country with unique needs. IMPACT is currently phasing in the program across the country.
The goal of the IMPACT Substance Abuse Program is to make union ironworkers more employable and IMPACT member contractors more competitive. IMPACT's substance abuse program:
The IMPACT program utilizes an independent third party administrator (TPA) to coordinate program testing and administer the random portion of the program. The TPA also provides a 24-hour online verification system that enables members and owners to verify an ironworker is prequalified to work.
The IMPACT program maintains reciprocity with the National Building Trades Substance Abuse program, the Boilermaker’s MOST program, Detroit’s MUST program along with many others nationwide. This allows ironworkers in those pre-existing programs to be recognized within the IMPACT program.
The revised program policy is available under "IMPACT Substance Abust Policy," in the bottom right-hand corner of this page.
Program participants should call Mobile Medical Corporation at (800) 985-0200 for employee verification related inquiries.
