Expanding Job Opportunities for Ironworkers and their Contractors

The off the Job accident program has been a God's send for our injured members and helps them from digging a financial hole. There is a process  of educating the members, following up with the paperwork to the Trust Fund, insuring the member is paid. This extra time is on behalf of the Business Manager but it is worth it.

Sincerely,
Michael L. Baker

Safety, Quality and Productivity Key Themes At Construction Industry Conference

02/09/2013

LAS VEGAS - Conversations on safety, quality and productivity in the ironworking industry have construction industry Owners perking up their ears.

This week, more than 800 Ironworker, Contractor and Owner representatives will gather at the 2013 North American Iron Workers/IMPACT Labor-Management Conference in Las Vegas. There, the Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT), the organization that coordinates the annual conference, will highlight the Iron Workers’s commitment to safety, quality and productivity. The meeting—now in its sixth year—consistently serves as a hotbed for innovation, fostering conversations that explore ways to create work opportunities, improve training programs and inject technology into the construction industry.

More than a dozen of North America’s largest Owners will appear at the conference, including household names like Intel, Kaiser Permanente and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).  “They’re drawn to our meeting because they want to hear more about our focus on innovation,” said Walter Wise, IMPACT Labor Co-Chair.  “They want to learn how Iron Workers will bolster their productivity.” Wise is the General President of the Iron Workers Union.

Bill Brown, IMPACT’s Management Co-Chair, will welcome more than 200 fellow ironworking Contractors. “We draw Contractors because they want to network with construction industry leaders and hear more about the safety and training programs we offer,” said Brown, who is the President of Ben Hur Construction Company in St. Louis.

Contractors typically leave the conference with a handful of new job leads. Owners depart with a well-defined picture of how the Iron Workers are safe, productive and provide quality work. “Many Contractors and Owners return to this conference again and again,” said Kevin Hilton, IMPACT CEO. “We provide value, and our attendees recognize that value. That’s why they keep coming back.”
