WASHINGTON – Nov. 7, 2014 – The Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT), congratulates ironworker contractor Midwest Steel, Inc. for winning the 2014 The Construction User Photo Contest.
“This year’s photos showcase some of the best talents that ironworkers bring to our vocation. It’s just one example of our work that is being safely performed across North America using compelling images,” said Kevin Hilton, chief executive officer. “A big pat on the back to Tom Broad and Midwest Steel.”
Brad Hetzer, field superintendent on the Marathon Petroleum Corporation oil refinery in Detroit, Mich. took the winning photo. “To give you an idea of the magnitude of the job, we had more than 20 semi-trailers being hauled back and forth every day, and anywhere from 10 to 14 cranes working at any one time setting iron equipment into place,” Hetzer confirmed. “We had four general foremen on site plus all of the crafts, upwards of 150 total.”
Ironworkers from Detroit Local 25 handled the structural steel work and Operating Engineers from Local 324 operated the cranes.
