The Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT) congratulates the winners of the Ironworker Employers Association of Western Pennsylvania’s (IWEA) 17th annual Safety Awards. This year, the IWEA recognized nine Ironworker Contractors and representatives for excellence in safety and project innovation.
IWEA distributes awards only after Contractors exhibit a stringent adherence to safety protocol on the jobsite. “We look at the Contractor’s overall safety program, including their EMR rating while also verifying they have not experienced any accidents on the jobsite,” said Bill Ligetti, executive director of IWEA. In addition to recognizing safety, IWEA also pays attention to special construction techniques, equipment and uniqueness when judging a project.
This year’s award winners include Taylor Steel Construction, Venetia, Pa., for relocation of the Dollar Bank Lions in downtown Pittsburgh; and Graycor Industrial Constructors, Caraopolis, Pa., for overseeing construction of the United States’s first coke oven battery in over thirty years.
