Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust

Expanding Job Opportunities for Ironworkers and their Contractors

Thank you to the over 1100 attendees at this year conference!

Just wanted to say that Mark, Michael and Stuart from FMI and Trevor from PWC did an excellent job engaging the classroom in discussion each day, and had a great program format for teaching. The information they brought forward was extremely useful now as I'm sure it will be throughout my career. This was only my 2nd IMPACT course that I have attended, I would like to commend IMPACT on organizing these events for Ironworkers and contractors alike, IMPACT always put on an amazing program, and does a very good job at making these events comfortable and welcoming to attend. I plan to attend more IMPACT events as the information is always very useful and IMPACT does a great job of finding the right instructors for the occasion. I would like to thank everyone at IMPACT for the work they do to set these events up and providing the opportunity to attend these courses.

My Meetings

Ironworker/Contractor Construction ProfitAbility© Program: This two day, 16-hour course is an intensive, interactive, two-day business simulation where six teams of participants compete against one another to produce the highest return on investment they can. The program is specifically designed to give each participant the experience of running a simulated construction business. The program exposes the participants to a year’s worth of decisions in a very compressed and intense business simulation. Some of the decisions they will need to consider: Project selection; Marketing and client relations strategy; Hiring and training of staff; Financial management of direct labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors; Project staffing and buyout; Cash flow; Debt; Equipment utilization; Change orders management; Payables and Receivables; Overheads; Insurance; Bonding; Project and company risk exposure; and Financial reporting (balance sheet and income statement). The program is a low risk way of letting people gain experience “running” a construction company. The FMI team will help the participants discover, first hand, how different aspects of the business interrelate. Each round provides participants with a chance to succeed. Please note that Day 1 of this course will end at 7 PM and dinner will be provided.
